Artist Statement

My art practice revolves around my curiosity of how my own experiences in the world and within my mind compares to that of others. I find representative art can act as an abstract Rorschach test, wherein others can create their own stories, instead of being told what to see. It’s comforting to see humanity in others, to see that there’s others like you, while also others completely different from you. My outlook on art is a complete rejection of Solipsism. I want to communicate with others on an interpersonal level and the most efficient way is visually. Instead of aiming to communicate universal statements, I aim to be highly specific and personal to my own inner world. This way, my art practice produces seemingly benign pieces that evoke conversation. It’s the conversation surrounding the artwork that’s my goal, to see what story the viewer finds as I share my own.
